ERPNext
The Most Agile ERP on the Planet
About
ERPNext is a free and open-source ERP system built on the Frappe framework (Python + JavaScript). It covers accounting, inventory, manufacturing, CRM, HR, project management, and more — all in a single integrated platform.
ERPNext is particularly popular among small and mid-size businesses in India, Africa, and Southeast Asia due to its zero-license-cost model and comprehensive feature set. The software can be self-hosted or run on Frappe Cloud, the company's managed hosting service.
History
ERPNext was created by Rushabh Mehta in 2008 while he was running a textile export business and couldn't find affordable ERP software. He built the first version to solve his own problem, then open-sourced it.
The project grew steadily through the 2010s, powered by a passionate open-source community. In 2014, Frappe Technologies was formally incorporated. By 2020, ERPNext had users in over 100 countries. The Frappe framework that powers ERPNext has also become popular for building other business applications.
